MEET ANDREW

Andrew Coates is a native Nevadan and has called Nevada home for 28 years.  He earned his law degree, as well as his Master of Business Administration, from UNLV.

Unlike many candidates for University Regent, Andrew has actual experience working in higher education administration.

While he was a student at UC Davis, Andrew served on the Chancellor’s Advisory Board and the Dean’s Executive Committee for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.  In 2010, Andrew’s university recognized his services and talents by nominating him for the position of Student Regent for the University of California Board of Regents.

Now Andrew gives back to the community by working on the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors and as Vice Chair of the Henderson Commemorative Beautification Commission.  He also worked to promote high-quality scientific education as the Chair of the American Chemical Society of Southern Nevada.

Such experience gives Andrew in-depth knowledge of the Nevada System of Higher Education, and he will put that knowledge and experience to good use by serving his constituents as a University Regent.

Andrew serves on the Board of Directors of First Good Shepherd Elementary School and is a member of the Committee on Patents and Related Matters for the American Chemical Society.  The American Chemical Society is the world’s largest scientific professional society.

Andrew Coates has the experience, education, and can-do attitude we need in a University Regent!
